Sustainably sourced soy candles.
Soy wax, fragrance oil, reclaimed glassware
Our Story
Candles fill our homes with amazing fragrances, light, decoration, warmth, and love. Container candles, often housed in glassware or ceramics, are a wildly popular way to bring these elements into your space.
I started buying candles steadily towards the end of my college career, and strongly disliked the strain on my wallet. As an Environmental Science major, I also disliked the waste I saw post-burn; beautiful, delicate glass containers, and a bunch of fragrant wax.
Thus began a scentful, enjoyable hobby. Using my grandma’s old double boiler and some donated wax, I experimented in making my own candles.
In the year 2017, there was a significant reduction in the availability of glass recycling in my area. Glass is 100% recyclable, but in 2017, only about 26% of the 11.4 million tons of glass produced in the US was recycled (found here).
Being an avid queso and salsa consumer, I hated to throw away perfectly good glass containers just because recycling wasn’t conveniently available to me. So I threw the glass in a cupboard and forgot about it, hoping one day I’d find a use for them.
When the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020 forced me to go into lockdown and subsequently lose my main source of employment, I suddenly had a great use for those old jars!
I decided to turn this forgotten glass into a sustainable substitute for glass container candles.
I founded Forgotten Glass Candle Company to be a sustainable, more environmentally friendly alternative to doing something I loved so dearly. Every purchase prolongs the lifetime of glassware that would otherwise end up in a landfill.
Make your next purchase unforgettable at the Forgotten Glass Candle Company.
